Above: Gensler designs workplaces, so it strives to put the same practices into its office. It's known for its huge, festive Christmas parties (shown above), its annual putt putt tournament, monthly office meetings that are actually fun, chili cook-offs and more. (Gensler)
In their own words
“Gensler is a global architecture, design and planning firm that strives to make the places people live, work and play more inspiring, more resilient and more impactful,” says Cindy Simpson, co-managing director of the Dallas office.
About the culture
Gensler is 100 percent employee-owned and offers yearly profit sharing and ESOP. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and long-term disabilities insurance, flexible spending, wellness programs, free advocacy resources, 401k, paid time off and holidays, reimbursement for professional licensing and professional memberships fees, and tuition reimbursement. At the end of every week, Gensler hosts Beer:30, an in-house happy hour to bring everyone together to unwind.
Employees say
"Gensler was founded by a man with the core values that align with mine and this founder's mentality still lives on today!"
"I get to do a variety of tasks each day, the management leads by example and I expect I will continue growing for many years to come. I am inspired by my co-workers and often feel like I am the least qualified in the room (as compared to previous jobs where I felt over-qualified)."
"I get to do what I love alongside others who are as passionate about architecture as I am."
Good works
The Gensler Cup Golf Tournament raised more than $38,000 last year to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas. Each Movember, dozens of shaggy beards are grown then shaved into ridiculous mustaches, with all proceeds benefiting men’s health.
